Renown political analyst Prof Mutahi Ngunyi has taken a swipe at National Super Alliance leader Raila Odinga after his supporters celebrated his return to the country after spending the past 10 days in the US.
Ngunyi’s sentiments were triggered by the chaos experienced on Friday, November 17 as police and Raila’s supporters clashed in Nairobi. He has termed Raila a liar for misleading his supporters.
In a Saturday, November 18 tweet seen by Zipo.co.ke, Ngunyi claims Raila’s currencies of trade are political lies and violence.
“VIOLENCE is Raila’s Currency of POLITICAL Transaction. His other CURRENCY is Political LIES. I called him TODAY and his Safaricom line is STILL active! He is NOT being HONEST.” The controversial pundit wrote.
Yesterday, police used teargas, water canons, stones and even allegedly live bullets, to prevent Raila’s supporters from accessing Uhuru Park grounds where a grand rally had been scheduled.
The fracas that ensued led to several people sustaining injuries, vehicles were destroyed and five people are said to have lost their lives. Police deny shooting anyone dead saying in a statement that the victims were stoned to death by Opposition supporters.
It will be remembered that Raila, as reported previously by Zipo.co.ke, switched mobile phone providers from Safaricom to Airtel as part of a boycott being spearheaded by the National Resistance Movement.
His ditching Safaricom line – a company listed by Nasa as having helped Jubilee rig the August 26 elections – has been in question and there is evidence to show that the coalition’s Paybill number where supporters send donations is still on.
Most of the said Nasa leaders ‘boycotted’ lines are also said to be still active.
