AFC Leopards are set to face Muhoroni Youth, aiming for their first back-to-back wins this season, but they face tough opponents who have shown strong form in their recent games.
In their next FKF Premier League match on Sunday, AFC Leopards face a challenging encounter against Muhoroni Youth. Ingwe kicked off 2024 with an impressive win over Ulinzi Stars, marking only their third victory in 17 matches. However, they now confront a Muhoroni team that hasn’t lost in four matches, winning their last three consecutively.
Despite several off-field issues, Charles Odera’s squad has performed admirably, securing 1-0 victories against Sofapaka, Posta Rangers, and Shabana. Playing at home, they are poised to extend their winning streak against the Leopards. The game, initially scheduled at Got Alila in Muhoroni, has been relocated to Mamboleo in Kisumu, but the home team can still expect strong local support.
While Leopards managed a win against Ulinzi, their performance was not entirely convincing. It’s uncertain how they will handle Muhoroni’s intensity. Scoring goals has been a challenge for Ingwe, and though they are looking to bolster their attack this month, efforts to strengthen other areas have been less successful. Coach Tomas Trucha must therefore optimize his current squad as the club explores other options. Given their recent struggles, a poor result in Kisumu is something they can ill afford.
Both Leopards and Muhoroni have 18 points, with Ingwe slightly ahead on goal difference. Past encounters suggest a closely contested game on Sunday. Muhoroni secured a 2-1 home win in January last year, while Ingwe claimed a 1-0 victory in March, highlighting the tight competition between the two teams.
