Numerous Swedish media sources report that several European teams are pursuing Harambee Stars left-back Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma, with the defender anticipated to leave AIK in the winter.
AIK’s football director, Thomas Bernsten, has disclosed the potential scenarios that might lead to Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma’s departure, amid interest from various clubs in Europe’s top leagues.
Ouma was rumored to be leaving AIK in the summer, but the Allsvenskan club reportedly turned down multiple offers for the fullback, including one from Espanyol in September.
Reports suggest strong indications that the 27-year-old will exit AIK this winter.
“We’ll see what happens, but I won’t discuss specific players,” Bernsten said, addressing inquiries about potential departures from the club.
“We plan to sell some players and recruit about six to bolster our main squad of 14-15 players,” Berntsen told Sportbladet.
“While AIK is a major club, we don’t waste money. We aim to sell players as AIK is a desirable club. However, we don’t want players joining just for the pleasant atmosphere in Stockholm.”
Swedish publication Expressen reports significant European interest in Otieno, especially from clubs in Spain and France.
The paper reveals that several clubs are ready with concrete offers, and AIK is open to negotiating at the right price.
Otieno transferred to AIK from Vasalunds IF before the 2020 season. This season, he scored a goal and provided three assists in 26 Allsvenskan matches.
The 39-cap Harambee Stars defender has previously been linked to Leicester City, Manchester City, and Crystal Palace.
AIK finished eleventh in the Allsvenskan this season.
