Details of Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma’s Transfer Fee and Salary Unveiled Following His Signing with Polish Champions

Kenyan international Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma secured a significant transfer fee and salary with his move from Swedish club AIK to Polish champions Rakow Czestochowa.

Kenyan defender Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma was transferred for more than Ksh150 million from Swedish team AIK to Polish champions Rakow Czestochowa on Thursday.

Ouma ended speculation about his future by signing a two-year contract, with an option for an additional two years, with the Polish club, marking a new phase in his career.

Having excelled at AIK, Ouma caught the attention of several European clubs. AIK agreed to his sale in December, and it seems Rakow Czestochowa outbid other clubs to secure his services.
Swedish media reports suggest AIK received around 10 million Swedish Krona (Ksh156,674,156) for Ouma, and he has been offered a salary of approximately $10,000 (Ksh1,606,865). His former club Vasalund is entitled to a 30 percent share of the transfer fee.

After his transfer to Poland, AIK detailed how they classified Ouma’s move and the financials involved.

“AIK Fotboll AB has categorized player transfers based on their net result, using the following scale: Class From (kSEK) To (kSEK) I. 0-2,500, II. 2,500-5,000, III. 5,000-10,000, IV. 10,000-20,000, V. 20,000-40,000, VI. 40,000-70,000,” the club stated on its website.

“The transfer of Erick Otieno to RKS Raków Częstochowa falls into class III. The amounts in the scale represent the net profit from a player sale according to Uefa’s definition of ‘Player Trading’, i.e., game sales minus agent fees, other selling costs, and depreciation on players.”

Ouma joined AIK in 2020 from another Swedish club, Vasalund, and made 104 appearances, scoring four goals and providing 15 assists.

The Kenyan international said joining Czestochowa was an easy decision, confident in his ability to adapt to Poland.
“Poland has a good league, and I am proud to join this great team that plays well,” said Ouma about his new club.

“I haven’t spoken to anyone because I think Poland and Sweden are similar, especially the weather. Bartosz (Cekus) is a good coach, and we had a great collaboration and moments at AIK.”

Czestochowa is currently fourth in the Polish top flight with 32 points, nine behind leaders Slask Wroclaw, and have a game in hand.
