FKF has officially announced the postponement of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) following a court order issued by the High Court of Mombasa. The highly anticipated 9th Football Kenya Federation (FKF) AGM, scheduled for Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Kenya Institute of Special Education, faced an unexpected setback due to this legal intervention. Lady Justice Olga Sewe of the High Court issued the order on Friday evening, responding to a challenge raised by sports journalist Milton Nyakundi, who questioned the legality of the federation’s top officials convening the AGM. The AGM was set to address several crucial matters, with the forthcoming FKF elections being the focal point among the key issues up for discussion. Yusuf Swaleh, the representative of National Super League (NSL) clubs and president of Darajani Gogo FC, confirmed that the delegates unanimously agreed to comply with the court order and await Monday’s ruling. “We have decided to postpone the AGM until the case is heard and determined. Although the team was fully prepared for the event, as law-abiding citizens, we must step back and wait,” Swaleh stated, as quoted on Mozzart Sport. On Friday morning, several delegates had gathered for a press briefing in anticipation of the AGM, which has now been called off. Notably absent were representatives from Gor Mahia, Kakamega Homeboyz, and Murang’a Seal among the top-tier clubs, while Migori Youth was conspicuously absent from the top ten second-tier teams. Representatives from various FKF Division One teams, including 3K, Fortune Sacco, Ruiru Hotstars, Kibera Soccer, Omax, APS Bomet, Compel SC, MOFA, GFE 105, and Sigalagala Poly FC, were in attendance. The Women’s League was represented by three delegates from the Kenya Women Premier League and the WNSL, while the Kenya Footballers Welfare Association (KEFWA) had one member present. The list of delegates set to attend the AGM also included 40 branch chairmen, reflecting the diverse representation that was poised to grace the occasion on Saturday morning.
