Liverpool vs Leicester Prediction: 26/12/2024

Liverpool has had to adapt this summer following the departure of their iconic manager Jurgen Klopp, and they have done so successfully.

Under new head coach Arne Slot, Liverpool has achieved all their goals thus far, sitting atop the Champions League standings with victories in their first six matches. In the Premier League, the Reds are also performing exceptionally well, holding the top spot as they prepare for a crucial match against Tottenham.

Despite recent draws against Newcastle (3-3) and Fulham (2-2), they quickly returned to winning ways by defeating Southampton 2-1 in the Carabao Cup last week.

Leicester City, in contrast, are no longer the formidable force they were in the mid-2010s. After a stint in the Championship last year, they have returned to the Premier League with the aim of solidifying their place in the top flight.

However, the Foxes have struggled this season, earning only 14 points from 16 games. Following a 3-1 win over West Ham, they drew 2-2 with Brighton and suffered a heavy 4-0 loss to Newcastle.

Liverpool will be without key defender Ibrahima Konaté and potential starters Kostas Tsimikas and Conor Bradley for the Boxing Day match. Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa, who were uncertain last weekend, might be included in the squad, while midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is back from suspension.

Mohamed Salah continues to lead the team with an impressive 13 goals and 8 assists in the Premier League. Liverpool’s defense has been solid, conceding only 13 goals this season.

Leicester will miss important midfielders Wilfred Ndidi and Harry Winks, winger Abdul Fatawu, second-choice goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk, and full-back Ricardo Pereira.

Despite these absences, key players like attacking midfielder Facundo Buonanotte and veteran striker Jamie Vardy are expected to play. Vardy, at 37, remains effective with 6 goals and 3 assists in the Premier League.

Prediction

Leicester’s away form has been poor, with ten consecutive winless matches in the Premier League, including seven defeats. Liverpool, on the other hand, has secured 12 victories in 16 home matches, indicating their strong performance at Anfield.

Prediction: Liverpool 5 – 1 Leicester
