Gor Mahia’s head coach McKinstry plans minimal changes during the transfer window, aiming to preserve the team’s strong performance in the league.
Johnathan McKinstry, the head coach of Gor Mahia, has emphasized that the club will exercise caution in their player signings during the mid-season transfer window.
Despite the open January transfer window of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League and the usual expectations for clubs to strengthen their rosters, McKinstry remains confident in his current team, indicating only minor adjustments.
Under McKinstry’s guidance, K’Ogalo has shown excellent performance, which appears to be shaping their approach to transfers.
“Yeah, we’re currently in talks with two or three individuals, but as I’ve stated before, we don’t compile lists specifically for January. Our lists are made for July, which is when you can acquire the highest quality players.
“It’s during the July window, when players’ contracts are ending, and their teams are more inclined to release them. If we can secure one or two of these players earlier, then certainly, we’ll bring them in sooner,” McKinstry elaborated.
This approach is consistent with McKinstry’s broader vision of developing a strong team for continued success.
By focusing on the July window, Gor Mahia aims to access a greater array of talent, ensuring the acquisition of players who are not just temporary solutions but long-term contributors.
