Stanley Wilson Poised to Join AIK After Successful Breakthrough in Talks

AIK Fotboll’s Sporting Director Thomas Berntsen has announced a key development in negotiations with Kariobangi Sharks, paving the way for the highly anticipated signing of Kenyan talent Stanley Wilson.

Berntsen confirmed that AIK has reached a deal with the Kenyan club for Wilson’s transfer, following his impressive performance in a friendly against FK TSC Bačka Topola of Serbia’s top league.

Wilson, who turned heads with a notable 20-minute appearance in the match, has reinforced AIK’s interest in him.
Berntsen, expressing his contentment with the agreement, highlighted Wilson’s potential and AIK’s enthusiasm to bring him onboard.

“He is a competent player, one we’ve been eager to integrate into our team,” Berntsen stated to Afton Bladet.

Despite the brevity of Wilson’s trial, Berntsen praised his contribution, noting his impactful presence on the field.

“In his brief time today, he displayed strong qualities and a sharp understanding of the game. He made a notable contribution.”
Berntsen acknowledged that while certain details remain to be finalized, the basic terms of Wilson’s transfer are set.

The Kenyan prospect is slated to complete his move to AIK on his 18th birthday, August 21, with ongoing discussions about contract specifics.

Additionally, Berntsen mentioned Emmanuel Gono, a Liberian forward also trialing at AIK, suggesting a broader strategy to bolster the squad. He indicated that AIK intends to sign both players, subject to financial considerations.

“Indeed, financial aspects play a role, but essentially, we have a transfer framework agreed for both,”

AIK faced a 0-2 loss against FK Bačka Topola in the friendly match held in Spain.
